MPLAD Fund Analysis

 

Under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), each MP (both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) has access to INR 5 Crore per annum to be used to facilitate development in his/her state or constituency. The ‘average percent of utilization’ refers to the average amount of money spent as a percentage of the total amount of money released by the Govt. of India under the MPLADs scheme to MPs.


For the analysis of Lok Sabha numbers, the term of the 15th Lok Sabha (May 2009 to May 2014) has been considered.For the analysis of Rajya Sabha numbers, only sitting Rajya Sabha members appointed before 2014 have been considered.
